This is a superb example of the Wrenn W2240 LNER Black 8F, running number 3144. Introduced by Wrenn, Basildon in Period 1, because of its popularity (and previous Hornby Dublo lineage) survived all periods of production up to closure in 1992. This particular example is from early Period 4 build,(circa 1981/2) and is particularly hard to find in this condition. This has the yellow letters/numbers with red highlights. Although Wrenn produced over 1500 of these, only 98 were issued in Period 4 and this is one of those.
Comes complete with original box, tissue, packing rings, and instruction manual The bottom of the inner box is stamped "Packer No 2" in red ink correct for this Basildon issue.
Condition of Locomotive/tender/box is " near mint" considering age.
THE 8F IS ESSENTIAL FOR FREIGHT OPERATIONS ON ANY "OO" GAUGE LAYOUT!
