This is the Wrenn W2225 standard 8F in LMS Black, running number 8042. It was one of the few Locomotives that spanned all 4 Periods of production output from the Basildon Factory, but is not as common as its BR counterpart "48073". This particular example comes from the early Period 3 era (circa 1973) and is unique with cream transfers on one side and yellow on the other. This is the first example I have seen, and has seen minimal layout use in my opinion.
NOTE : This is the "workhorse" for freight operations on any "00 Gauge" Layout.
Locomotive/Tender are " near mint" box is "good to excellent" for their age. The underneath of the inner box is stamped "Packer No 3" in black ink and has the usual sellotape residue marks correct for Period 3 Wrenn, Basildon issue...
Complete with original box, including packing rings, tissue, Hornby Dublo coupling conversion kit, and blue Instruction manual The box end stamps "W2225 2-8-0 FREIGHT LMS" is the early stamp that Basildon used which I believe was worn out due to the volume issued during earlier Periods 1/2 issues and then finally replaced during Period 3...
