This is a superb example of the W2221/A "Bristol Castle" in BR Green, running number 7013. The tender has the late BR totem. This 4-6-0 Castle Class Locomotive was introduced by Basildon in early Period 4 and was the first of the Castle Class to take the "A" suffix coding. Production only reached 330 through Period 4, and please note they were only issued between 1980-82 and 1988-89.This example is from the early 1982 build and has the FULL "W2221/A" stamp on the box end flaps correct for all Bristol Castle issues from the Basildon factory.
The Locomotive/tender comes from the first phase of production in Period 4, and includes box, packing rings, tissue, and Instruction Manual. Base of the inner box is stamped "Packer No 6 "in red ink indicating Wrenn, Basildon issue..
Locomotive/tender/box is " near mint" ,for their age.
