This is a great example of the Wrenn W2302 "King George VI" Coronation Class Streamliner in LMS Maroon running number 6244. Introduced by Wrenn, Basildon in 1983, manufacture of the Streamliners was very limited before withdrawal in 1987. Only 194 examples of the "King George VI"s are recorded between 1983 - 1987 and therefore are very much sought after by collectors and/or layout runners alike. The basis of the Wrenn Streamliners was a Keyser body kit with modified City chassis.
Please Note : These had the larger flanged wheels on the chassis including the centre set, no other combination was issued.
The Locomotive/tender comes complete with correctly stamped W2302 Period 4 box, tissue, packing rings, blue instruction manual and separate Coronation Instruction Sheet. The bottom of the inner box is stamped "Packer No 3 11347" indicating 47th week, 11th month, 1983 as date of Basildon issue.
Overall Condition of Locomotive/Tender/Box is "near mint " for their age.
A SUPERB LOCOMOTIVE FROM THE ORIGINAL WRENN BASILDON RANGE!
